COBIT

COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) was created by ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and ITGI (IT Governance Institute) in 1996 to provide a best practices framework for Information Technology Management, thus allowing managers, auditors, and IT users to benefit from a set of generally accepted measures, indicators, processes and best practices while developing IT governance and control in the company.

In its current version 4.1, COBIT has 34 high level processes which cover 210 control objectives categorized in four domains:

  • Planning and organization
  • Acquisition and implementation
  • Delivery and support
  • Monitoring and evaluation
